Zaratanis

entry for a tournament on GFXFreaks. Now that votings over, I feel better about uploading it(the entries were anonymous).

This is a zaratan, a gigantic sea turtle from Arabian(?) mythology. Basically, a nigh-immortal turtle, spending most of its time sleeping and drifting with the ocean currents, over time ended up with entire ecosystems(and sometimes living creatures) on their backs. Just thought it was an unusual basis, instead of the 'usual suspects' of fantasy(unicorns, dragons, etc).
